Enable Patients to Become More Active
Activity Produced in partnership
The best ideas for an activity come from the people who are going to be doing it- the patients!
Is there a way to find out what people with health conditions in your local area would want to do? A patient group, forum, or facebook group might help. Your link worker would likely have a good understanding
You may want to build on what is already happening. Is there a local walking group, that you could offer to host a start point from the surgery? Could you offer a room of the surgery for activity
THE POWER OF TALKING
If you only have one, five or ten minutes to spare you can still make a powerful difference
Just a simple brief intervention - suggesting physical activity - to a patient can be extremely valuable
A Health Care Professional (HCP) only has to suggest this to approximately 12 patients before 1 will become more physically active- this is effective compared to most other drugs or interventions
Patients with long term conditions (LTCs) will often want reassurance that they are able to become active with their condition
Staff training
Could you organise a staff training session to learn about physical activity within healthcare?
