Sheffield Women’s Health Week 2025

Sheffield Women’s Health Week is taking place from the 3rd to 8th March 2025, and will culminate with Super Saturday on International Women’s Day. This week is all about celebrating and promoting the importance of movement for women’s health, while addressing the unique challenges women face at different life stages. 

We’ve got a fantastic programme lined up, with a variety of activities, including workshops, workouts and webinars! The webinar series will feature a wide range of voices - from researchers and practitioners to project managers, advocates, and individuals with lived experience. Together, they will share current insights, research, and personal stories to inform and inspire conversations around women’s health and physical activity.

  • 9:30-10:00 Move it with Meg 

    Kick off Sheffield Women's Health Week with Megan from Pinder Dance Productions for a fun-filled Wake and Shake session to get you moving and energised! 

    Get your body moving to feel-good music from wherever you are – whether it's in the classroom, at home, or anywhere you choose! This live session, streamed on our YouTube channel, brings everyone together to celebrate women’s health while staying active.

  • 12:00 - 13:00 Mettle Girlstrong Taster sessions

    Strength training is a fantastic way to build fitness, strength, and overall health—especially for women. However, getting started can feel overwhelming, and mainstream gyms can sometimes be intimidating.

    The Mettle GirlStrong programme is designed specifically for women, led by expert female coaches in a supportive and welcoming environment. This taster session is a chance to experience GirlStrong firsthand, meet the coaches, and explore the excellent training facilities at the Advanced Wellbeing Research Centre (AWRC). Whether you're new to strength training or looking for a fresh approach, come along and give it a go!

  • 10:30-12:30 Women's Guided Health Walk 

    Join Ranger Katy Knight, supported by Helen Taylor from SOAR, for a gentle walk and talk around Parkwood Springs. This relaxed, welcoming stroll for women follows surfaced paths at a slow pace, with plenty of tea, biscuits, and good conversation along the way. It’s a great opportunity to connect with nature and others in a supportive environment.

    11:30-12:30 Pelvic Strength Class 

    Join Róisín O'Bentley, founder and lead physiotherapist at Thrive – Physiotherapy for Women for a free Pelvic Strength Class taster session - a supportive and engaging introduction to building pelvic floor strength, improving mobility, and boosting confidence. 

    This session is designed for all fitness levels, providing practical techniques to help you take control of your pelvic health. Learn how full-body movement - not just kegels - can support bladder control, core stability, and overall well-being.

    18:00-19:00 Lift the Curfew 

     Join us for a special walk or run event, inspired by the Let’s Lift the Curfew movement. Launched in October 2023, this initiative amplifies women’s stories and concerns about staying active outdoors during the darker months while calling on society to play its part in making outdoor spaces safer for all. 

     Whether you walk or run, this event is about solidarity, empowerment, and reclaiming the night. Join us and keep the conversation going - because everyone deserves to feel safe moving outdoors. Thank you for lifting the curfew with us!

    Join Lucy McCrudden, Founder and CEO of Dance Mama™ CIC, for a fun and inclusive dance session. Experience her specialist approach to delivering high quality dance sessions to perinatal women through this 30-minute taster. It will include a warm-up, instructed dance moves, and an opportunity for you to add your own flair. No previous dance experience necessary to enjoy this opportunity to move.

    Join Natalie for a fun, full-body HIIT workout class, featuring a playlist inspired by the leading ladies in music, as we celebrate International Women’s Day 2025 with the theme of "Accelerating Action!" 

    This adaptable workout suits all abilities, whether you’re a runner looking to enhance your strength or returning to fitness after a break. Led by Dr Natalie Grinvalds, a qualified Personal Trainer and Exercise Referral Instructor, the class alternates between functional strength and cardio, ending with mobility and core work.

What better way to finish off Sheffield Women’s Health Week than with Super Saturday on International Women’s Day? This exciting day hosted by Sheffield Children’s Hospital will include events for children and families! Whether you’re into sports or learning about health, there’s something for everyone to enjoy, discover, and be inspired by.  

Sports Day at the Olympic Legacy Park  


Join us for an action-packed morning (9am – 12pm) with free sessions from Sheffield Wednesday Football Club, Sheffield Steel Netball, AHSAY Dance and Mettle Weightlifting! The first 40 arrivals will receive a free voucher for Ice Sheffield’s public session taking place between 11:30-12:50. Theo Bear will also be making a special appearance on the day!   

  

Health Info Stall at the Moor Market  


Visit our health promotion stall for key info on girls' and young women’s health, including menstrual health and HPV vaccines. Take away free resources like period products and join our fun hook-a-duck activity to share what matters most to you.  

Both events are open to all children and young people aged 4 -17 and their families. Let’s learn, share, and celebrate together!  

Sheffield Olympic Legacy Park has ample parking on Worksop Road, with nearby Supertram and bus stops. For active travel, walk the blue loop or cycle on National Cycle Network routes 6 or 67. Eyre Street car park is closest to Moor Market, with various public transport options available.
